A Blog of One’s Own

Hi. Hello. Pleased to meet you, virtually speaking.
Welcome to the beginning of what will hopefully be an exciting endeavor! For a long time, I have wanted to create a blog—the blog premise, post topics, internet persona, and preferred header font (Baskerville, for anyone wondering) were decided ages ago.
So why the wait?
I waited until now to make my blog live (this post was actually written well in advance to today) because contrary to popular belief, a blog is not some designer pet of every organic macchiato sippin’, Old Navy wearin’ stay at home mom; blogs are hard work! (So salute the bloggers who also manage to raise kids, drink healthy coffee, AND look stylish while running a blog!) In fact, many successful bloggers make running their blogs their full time jobs. In addition to the time commitment involved in starting and maintaining a blog, blogging requires some level of technological competence. I have spent months getting this super simple layout fine-tuned to my liking!
So what should someone expect out of this blog?
I do not intend for this to be a single scope blog: I will not solely write about fitness, college, fashion, or life as a young woman. However, I will cover these topics all at some point. The premise on which I was inspired to create this blog is being a young woman pursuing a successful career, a healthy body, a relevant wardrobe, and a bigger heart. It’s a challenging time to be a young adult because everything from education to work to dating is more competitive than ever. Today’s women face not only the duties to produce and nurture, but also, in many instances, the duties to provide and protect—all while under the pressure to look stunning at any minute of the day. This being said, I wouldn’t want to be a man. I love being a female, but it’s tough and sometimes pretty scary. It requires a lot of learning and growing…. so why not pursue the greatness of womanhood together?
Maybe this blog can be the start.
